Given an outstanding head coach and a month to prepare you have a repeat of 1992 Alabama. 2. LSU. The Tigers led the SEC only stats in both offense and defense. Should have won the national championship. 3. Arkansas. Had a very good streak, but lost the last three games. The offensive average was 358 yds/game in SEC games for both 2005 and 2006. The defense was third in SEC games for 2006. 4. Georgia. The Georgia offense slipped a lot this year. The defense was great. Win over auburn gets them 4th rank. 5. Auburn. The offensive line had problems and the receivers had a subpar year. Auburn was 10th in SEC offense. Two spectacular upsets over LSU and florida saved the season. 6. Tennessee. Ninth in offense and ninth in defense, but a tough SEC schedule 7. South Carolina. SEC stats looked mediocre, but they had Spurrier. 8. Alabama. Outgained 10 of 12 opponents in total offense yards and still lost six games. No senior starters on the offensive line made it difficult to rush for touchdowns in the red zone. 9. Kentucky. Terrible defense for the second year in a row, but the offense was second to LSU in SEC games. 10. Vanderbilt. Fairly good offense, leaky defense. The Commodores continue to improve. 11. Miss State. The defense was respectible, but but the offense faltered. 12. Mississippi. Weakest offense in the SEC, but hope for the future. Total Offense SEC games only. Yds/game 1. LSU 391.7 2. Kentucky 364.1 3. Arkansas 358.1 4. Florida 349.2 5. Vanderbilt 347.1 6. Georgia 341.1 7. South Caro 340.4 8. Alabama 331.0 9. Tennessee 318.7 10. Auburn 284.0 11. Miss State 268.0 12.
