In order to accurately measure internal blood pressures, a properly calibrated pressure sensitive cardiovascular catheter may be used. Current techniques for calibrating the catheter are in question, which causes concern about the validity of the test results. This project aims to devise a testing system which more reliably calibrates and verifies the accuracy of the catheter in both atmospheric and internal bodily conditions.
Team members depicted left to right: Tony Wampole, Anita Zarebi, Danielle Ebben, Erik Yusko.
The project is in its infancy as the team is currently working on a specific definition and possible solutions to the project.
| Week | Reporting Period Beginning | Activities |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | September 8 | Assigned team roles. Met with client. Began literature research. |
| 2 | September 15 | Researched Millar catheters and completed PDS. |
| 3 | September 22 | Met with client to clarify current calibration procedures and requirements. |
| 4 | September 29 | The team began barinstorming and developed a list of questions to ask various experts. |
| 5 | October 6 | Developed 3 design ideas and are currently working on specifics involved with each design |
| 6 | October 13 | We have narrowed designs to two alternatives. We are evaluating the components necessary for each design before proceeding. |
| 7 | October 20 | Analyzed production costs of two designs. |

| 9 | November 3 | In the process of finalizing components and parts. |
| 10 | November 10 | We are currently ordering components. |
| 11 | November 17 | Began to machine pieces need for constructing the chamber. And of course, all consumed massive amounts of tryptophan. |
