Project Overview

Our goal is to automate a dome type camera so that it can track a person around a 30’x30’ room without human control. The system will be used in a clinical environment in order to provide satisfactory video monitoring of epilepsy patients. We are currently pursuing this task using a Panasonic camera and Hexamite ultrasonic positioning hardware. The final design includes ultrasonic Pilots that will be mounted in the corners of the room. These will report the distance to an ultrasonic beacon worn by the patient. A Labview program will then calculate the position of the patient based on these distances and direct the panasonic camera to the corresponding pre-set position.
