The client wants two new pumps that are programmable and can effectively control the infusion rates of gadolinium and saline independently without having to refill the syringes. New pumps will not only save clients time, but it will also save money since refilling the syringes wastes a lot of gadolinium. Restatement of Team Goals from Last Week: We are having a group meeting tonight (Tuesday). Well discuss the two different mechanisms that Dr. Fronczak told us about. We will divide the three components of the mechanism and study how they work and how they can be built. We would like to get this done by Friday before class. We would like to order the solenoid and the overrunning clutch, if possible, before next Friday. We would like to stay in touch with Dr. Fronczak and ask for his help from time to time. Summary of Accomplishments: We brought Prakash and Miguel up to date on the things we discussed with Dr. Fronczak. The meeting didnt last very long, because the design was simple. Our current design consists of a solenoid valve attached with a solenoid, a ratchet, a pawl and a pumping gear that will hold the ratchet in place; the pumping gear attached with ratchet will move horizontally and drive the pawl. After discussing our design amongst ourselves, we set new deadlines. We are hoping to order all the parts before this Friday. This way, we will be able to spend a lot of time building our prototype and make any changes. We understand how all the components of our design work. Thanks to Dr. Froncak, we have a good idea as to how everything works and what parts we need in order to make our design work effectively. Can has already emailed Frank, the technician, to ask about the maximum output of the air pressure in the MRI suite. Once we hear back from him, Aman will place an order for solenoid and solenoid valve. The total cost for a three way valve including the solenoid is $40.00. We will be ordering this part from Grainger Company. After Aman contacted Clark Co. for a solenoid valve, we needed to find more specs about the solenoid before ordering it; therefore we had to see Dr. Fronczak. Dr. Fronczak told us the difference between the various types of solenoid valves that exist in the market and how they work. He recommended ordering a 3-way solenoid valve which is connected with a solenoid operated at 110 V. He also told us to find the maximum output for the air pressure in the MRI suite before ordering. There are several types of solenoid valves depending on the air pressure. Individual Goals: 1. Aman Ghotra: Finish Progress Report 12; Group meeting; order parts and contact companies 2.
