Peripheral nerve blocks are performed by anesthesiologists before and after operations using ultrasound imaging to direct local anesthesia to the proper region within the body. The ultrasound probe and anesthesia needle each require one hand for placement or adjustment. During procedures on the lower torso, the needle must first be run through a catheter to access the target tissues and thus the procedure becomes difficult to perform with a single person. The goal of this project is to design an ultrasound probe holder to integrate into an existing articulating arm, freeing up the hands of the doctor or technician to perform the procedure.
