Project Overview

Frame Holder Design Team, from left to right: Justin, Katie, Becca, Bret

Create an attachment that could be added to a wheel chair or stretcher or a chair itself that would recline slightly, support the patient’s head as we sedate them and in addition hold the stereotactic frame while it is applied to the patient’s head. Stereotactic radiosurgery is a method of delivering radiation to a patient in a very precise manner. It requires the application of a halo "ring" to the patients scalp. In order to accomplish this we need to sedate the patient however when we do this the patients head can move so we are looking for something that stabilizies the head and the frame and still allows us to adjust the frame independent of the head position.
