There is a desire to design an anatomically and physiologically representative model that can visually and qualitatively demonstrate effects of CPR. Also, such a device can be instrumented (to apportion and measure "blood" and gas flows to vital organs of interest) to test the efficacy of devices used to augment CPR.
Paper written and group is ready for the last meeting with our advisor.
| Week | Reporting Period Beginning | Activities |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | January 24 | First group meeting. Roles were assigned. Meeting set up with client. |
| 2 | January 31 | Mannequin search performed. Met with client. Brainstormed. Researched possibly competitive products. |
| 3 | February 7 | General research on the problem, contacted American Red Cross. Contacted client. Assigned specific research to each member. |
| 4 | February 14 | Bought mannequin from ARC, set up another meeting with client. Further reserch, specifically on the viscosity of blood. Met with David Redon and saw a "super" mannequin. |
| 5 | February 21 | Had second meeting with client to clarify his position. Found possible microprocessor to implement into the design. |
| 6 | February 28 | With mid-semester presentations on the way, the design was analyzed closely. The slide presentation was made after clarifying the project. |
| 7 | March 7 | The mid-semester presentation was during this week and the other presentations were heard as well. |
| 8 | March 14 | The final paper was due and a quick review of mid-semester goals wsa carried out. |
| 9 | March 21 | SPRING BREAK! |
| 10 | March 28 | Decisions of what to purchase began keeping in mind what the client has offered to purchase already. |
| 11 | April 4 | Internal components purchased for the mannequin. Hollowing out of the mannequin was attempted but delayed due to design lab availability. |
| 12 | April 11 | Need to set up a meeting with John Webster in regards to sensors. Group discussion about using tubing and a balloon to model the heart. Still having design lab complications. |
| 13 | April 18 | The mannequin has been completely hollowed out and necessary internal components have been purchased. Access to the ME shop has been gained by all members. |
| 14 | April 25 | Internal structure of the mannequin including tubes and valves is almost comeplete. The heart needs to be modeled. |
| 15 | May 2 | Prototype completed and presented along with the poster. Final paper finished. |
