Project Overview

The goal of our project is to design a portable device to help people with swallowing disorders to swallow more effectively. The device will be very easy to use since its users will primarily be elderly patients. The patient will put the device in his/her mouth and press his/her tongue to top or his/her mouth while they are receiving feedback as to how much pressure they are applying to their mouth. Also, each patient will have an adjustable custom threshold value set, and the device will notify the patient when they reach that threshold. The feedback should be fun and motivating so that the patient will enjoy and continue using the device for the prescribed number of repetitions. The final product will ideally be a device which costs about $100 and works in a reliable, safe matter.
