Project Overview

Design and implementation of apparatus that provides two different stimuli to a caged monkey. The monkey Picture of Design Team must then choose between stimuli and be rewarded for the correct choice. Device should be able to be securely attached to cage and readily moveable from cage to cage. All manipulations by monkey should be accessible within the inside surface of cage. Device has potential to be entirely mechanical or combination or mechanical and electrical.

Project Status

We completed our first mechanical prototype one year ago. It looked like this (monkey side) with a reward door open. Picture of Design Team

It attached to the cage where in the feeding bin slot. With the feeding bin there, the cage looks like this. Picture of Design Team

It looks slightly different with our device there.

Our second (electronical) prototype, which is based on a simple logic circuit, has been completed and is ready for use.

We are in the process of fine-tuning the third prototype which uses a parallax microcontroller instead of the logic circuit to conrol the doors. We will add a reset button this weekend and then make a new base to allow it to attach snugly wugly to the monkey cage.
