Project Overview

The goal of this project is to develop a small, inexpensive, electromechanical, disposable drug delivery system that can give a continuous flow of a protein-based drug over a period of twenty-four hours.

Project Status

We just gave our final poster presentation, and we just completed our final report. We presented our prototype to our client and he was very pleased with the outcome.

Project Timeline

Week Reporting Period Beginning Activities
1 January 21 Selected project, assigned roles, met with client. Did some light brainstorming/research.
2 January 28 Did more research & brainstorming. Developed working version of PDS.
3 February 4 Met w/client. Began working on paper/presentation. Established a few solid ideas that could be pursued.
4 February 11 Gave midsemester presentation. Ross talked with a chemistry professor about his proposal. Aman talked to Prof. Beebe about microfluidics & hydrogels.
5 February 18 Midsemester Report
6 February 25 Started preliminary planning of layout and mechanics of pump mechanism. Karim ordered the parts through AllMotion.com
7 March 4 Karim received the parts. Made some preliminary designs of what the casing might look like. Started to divide up the work for the next couple of weeks.
8 March 11 Did more research on possible motors we could use. Placed remaining orders.
9 March 18 Spring Break
10 March 25 Received 10mm motor. Began to test compatibility of motor with circuit.
11 April 1 Work on final design
12 April 8 Work on final design. Start doing trials.
13 April 22 Work on final design. Continue to do trials.
14 April 29 Poster Presentations. Complete final report.
15 May 6 Submit final report. Final Meeting with advisor.
