Project Overview

Design a flow meter to monitor oxygen and medical air CO2 with either single or continuous readouts, measuring 1x4x1” or 4x4x1” respectively, that are accurate within 10% of actual flow rate costing less than $2 each when mass produced.

Project Status

We have built and testing our two designs, the venturi and rotameter, with air and nitrogen sources. With air, the venturi produced fairly accurate and consistant readings at 5 LPM and 8 LPM (8 was the best, with less than 1% error). The nitrogen source produced considerably less consistant results. The rotameter float failed to rise at all in the 0-15 LPM medical flow range. (See pictures from testing below). We have written a follow up report to send in to EWH regarding the venturis progress.
