Project Timeline

Week Reporting Period Beginning Activities
January 21 Selected Project, assigned team roles, emailed client
January 28 Met with Client, researched topic, started brainstorming, wrote Product Design Specifications (PDS)
February 4 Continued with background research, brainstormed design alternatives, started midsemster PowerPoint and paper
February 11 Finished background research, met with Ernie Madsen to learn about MR phantom composition and construction, developed design ideas, made PowerPoint presentation
February 18 Gave midsemester presentation, met with client to obtain feedback, revised PDS, wrote midsemester paper
February 25 Finished midsemester paper, brainstormed construction ideas, finalized design, determined amounts of supplies needed
March 4 Started final design drawings, ordered materials for prototype, determined receipes for samples, worked on setting up training on the relaxometer
March 11 Received materials, met with client, ordered additional supplies, assigned construction roles
March 18 Prepared samples, tested various tubes on MR imager, researched construction methods, received materials
March 25 Spring Break
April 1 Calculated T2 value of MR scan using MatLab, prepared additional Gd samples for testing, analyzed the data collected from the MR scan, worked on stair design, tested vials for water seal quality
April 8 Tested final concentrations of Gd samples, researched on sealing material, tested HDPE, calculated collagen and GAG values for articial disk samples, finalized the stair design.
April 22 Created new design to fasten the stair structure, tested final concentrations of Gd samples in relaxometer, prepared artificial disk and doped-water samples, tested the phantom prototype in the MR scanner
April 29 Completed and printed our design poster, stablized stair structure with epoxy, obtained more glass vials, analyzed data from prototype testing
