Project Overview

In recent years, work-related injury among sonographers has reached near epidemic proportions. These injuries have primarily afflicted the wrists, forearms, elbows and shoulders of sonographers due to poor ergonomic design in ultrasound probes. These probes require a great deal of pressure to be applied tightly to the skin while concurrently needing to maintain agility and acute control for the sonographer. This results in high levels of stress and strain being placed on the technician. The goal of this project is to design a device that adapts current probes to a more ergonomic structure.
