4-D TomoTherapy treatment outcomes for lung cancer depend on the stability and repeatability of a patient’s breathing pattern. A portable patient training system is desired to allow more practice for the patients. The portable device will measure a patient breathing pattern; the portable pocket PC displays the guiding cycles and provides feedback on the patient’s current breathing curve.
Training Program :
1. Display of real-time breathing (top left) and overall breathing pattern (top right)
2. Select times that ideal breathing occurs (bottom)

3. Copy of single ideal breathing cycle (left)
and replicated ideal cycles / guiding cycle (right)

4. Patient training program displays guiding cycle (red) and real-time breathing (blue)
