Project Title: Mouth Guard for Prevention of Bruxism
Team Members: Matt Harris, Tracy Stefonek
Client: Michael Conforti
Advisor: John G. Webster
Date: 9/12/01 - 9/19/01

Problem Statement: The goal of this project is to design a mouth guard that will detect the teeth grinding of a patient during sleep. The device should provide a stimulus to the patient causing he/she to unclench his/her teeth.

Restatement of Team Goals:

1. Meet with client as a group.
2. Discuss schedule for the first half of the semester.
3. Begin design process in partners.

Summary of Team Accomplishments:

1. Met with entire team and client, Mike Conforti, Monday 9-17-01 for 1.5 hours
2. Attempted to schedule meeting this Friday 9-21-01 with Dr. Doyle at his lab in UW hospital


Summary of Individual Accomplishments:

1. Checked out the book Tactile Sensors for Robotics and Medicine from Wendt
library on Friday 9-14-01
2. Attended a BWIG meeting Monday night 9-17-01

2. Contacted personal dentist Dr. Clark and left message requesting interview
3. Began preliminary PDS

Statement of Team Goals:

1. Meet with Dr. Doyle in his lab as a large group.

2. Continue design process in partners.

b) Research on pressure sensors, mouth guards
c) Develop PDS
d) Collect and test materials, such as mouth guard and TENS unit
e) Continue to study reading material from client and advisor
f) Patent search
