Reporting period:

November 9 - November 16

Problem statement:

To design a pneumatic lumbar support cushion that undergoes continuous passive motion for a duration of time when a patient is in a sitting position such as driving an automobile.

Restatement of team goals:

Meet with client to discuss final design options
Pick final design with help of client
Update PDS
Split into groups to work on different aspects of the final design

Accomplishments:

Attempted to meet with client (she was unavailable)
Finalized two possible final designs - going to present both to client to determine which
one to pursue
Contacted client to reschedule meeting
Postponed splitting into groups and updating of PDS until final design is chosen

Goals for next reporting period:

Meet with client to determine final design
Split into smaller groups to work on different aspects of the final design
Update PDS to reflect final design and its requirements

Project schedule:

Week 1: Met with Client
Week 2: Background Research
Week 3. Research, Brainstorm, PDS completion
Week 4: Finalize 4 main designs and start researching the equipment
needed for these projects
Week 5: Complete draft of Mid-Semester report (start on speech)
Week 6: Give presentations and turn in reports
Week 7: Combine with large group and begin selection of final design
Week 8: Choose final design and split into smaller groups to work on different aspects of the design
Week 9: Present final design options to client to determine final design and begin working on finding materials for prototype.

Difficulties thus far:

Meeting with client to decide on final design (we need to determine final design before we can proceed with project)

Activities:

Group meeting in class last Friday ~1.5 hrs
Individual time spent researching ideas ~ 1 hr
