Team Members:

Sara Alford (Team Leader)
Christine Koranda (Communications Rep.)
Carla Maas (BWIG)
Ryan Roth (BSAC)

Client:

Jeff Ross and Charles Tessier
University of Wisconsin - Medical School
Department of Oncology

Advisor: Mark Nicosia

Date: May 1 - 7

Problem Statement: To design a device that completes the preparation process done manually to prep a tissue sample for biochemical analysis. The device should freeze the tissue (with liquid nitrogen), grind it to a powder, and collect it for storage.

Restatement of Team Goals:
1. Fill in any gaps in the design alternatives we have been developing;
2. Pneumatic design development
3. Grinding team will be working on a collection design for a rounded tip (old design not good anymore)
4. Prepare sketches of main design alternative for the paper/poster
5. Determine mechanism for Liquid nitrogen pumps with lab visit.
6. Paper Preparation
7. Start thinking about poster

Summary of Accomplishments:
1. Went to Mark' s Lab and saw a manual liquid nitrogen pump.
2. Pneumatic Research Wrapped up
3. Paper is done, just needs final proofreading chances.
4. Poster meetings are planned for this week.

Team Goals for Next Week:
1. Poster and Paper Due this Friday (12-2 Engr Hall Poster Session)

Project Schedule:
Week 1: Chose Project, Contacted Client.
Week 2: Meet with Client, Background Research
Week 3: PDS, Background Research
Week 4: Brainstorming, Finish up background research
Week 5: Initial Design Solutions
Week 6: Client Meeting, Develop Designs, Prepare grinding tests
