CEE 618: Great Lakes Coastal Processes:
Little Sand Bay |
Little Sand Bay is located near the Apostle Islands at the northernmost
tip of Wisconsin. For protection of local fishing, tourist, and park
ranger boats, a small harbor was built. Quickly, the harbor became
non-navigable as a steady
influx of sand reduced water depths. Continuous dredging of lake sand
is expensive and annoying. So, our class set out to determine the
reasons for the high deposition rates.
