2010-2011 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON! |
| In FBS, the
inter-conference raids have begun again, but we'll see the results of these
in the |
| fall of 2011.? The Big 10 has 12 teams and the Big 12 has
10 teams.? Don't expect a name change |
| here, because I
think the Big 12 will get back up to 12 teams by raiding a non-BCS
conference. |
| The PAC 10 will be
the PAC 12.? What is driving the raids
is the rule that a conference must have |
| 12 teams to have a
conference championship game -- and everyone wants one and the money that |
| comes with
it.? Look for more raids in FBS before
the 2011 season begins. |
|
| Canadian
college football returns to the USA and schools drop and add football.? Simon Fraser, |
| a
Canadian college (in British Columbia) used to play in the NAIA until it
returned to playing in |
| Canada.? But it is unhappy with Canadian scholarship
restrictions, so it is joining NCAA Div. II |
| this
year.? It will keep its tradition from
NAIA days of playing a game against the U of BC |
| under
Canadian rules.? The Voodoo economic
policies of Obama have caused the end of football at |
| Hofstra
(LY 5-6) & Northeastern (LY 3-8) of what is arguably the strongest
conference in the FCS |
| subdivision
of Division I, the Colonial Ath. Assn.?
A third team dropping football is Dana, an |
| NAIA
team, which had a dismal season in 2009, with a 0-11 record and with a rating
of #689 &? |
| #691,
out of all 726 rated teams, by CPA & CPR, respectively. |
|
| New Division I FCS
teams include Lamar (Texas), Georgia State, & South Alabama (sort of). |
| Georgia
St. ends its season with a game at defending BCS champion Alabama (should
the? |
| Crimson
Tide spot the upstarts 80 points to make it interesting?).? Although this is South? |
| Alabama's
first season in the NCAA, it did play (and win) 7 games last year,
primarily? |
| against
JUCO teams.? South Alabama is
technically unclassified for its first year but will? |

FCS next season.? Unlike Lamar &
Georgia State, it plays less than half of its schedule? |
