NORTH CAROLINA--Maybe too high here, but with their potential is a #1 ranking. This may be the year someone other than FSU wins the ACC in a long time. Keldorf is one of my Heisman canidates. 11-0 2. TENNESSEE--Manning and the gang will beat Florida finally and then again coast through the rest of the season. 11-0 3. FLORIDA--Spurrier can mold any quarterback to his offence, but it will take time. The consequence is a loss to Tennessee. 10-1 4. NEBRASKA--Osbrone, Frost, and company will be back after last year's two-loss season. There back and their hungry. I see an upset by Kansas St., Okla., or Missouri. 10-1 5. PENN STATE--Won't make much noise nationally, but a solid running game wins games. Rose Bowl bound with most likely one loss(Michigan or Ohio St.). Would rate them higher except I don't know how the QB position will fall into place. 10-1 6. WASHINGTON--In last year's Holiday Bowl versus Colorado they showed lots of promise. A Rose Bowl looks well within reach. Will lose to Nebraska by very little. 10-1 7. FLORIDA STATE--This could be a rebuilding year with a Dunn-less Seminole team, plus the quarterback job is up in the air. But Bowden could pull off a surprise. (Seminole Fans think a rebuilding year is #7) 9-2 8. COLORADO--Could be great, could be national champs, but won't. Why? The Buffs aren't desiplined. Too many flags. Another season in the shadows of Nebraska. 9-2 9. LOUISIANA STATE--With Faulk at running back, LSU can find thelselves in the SEC championship. A November win at Death Valley versus Notre Dame will help their ranking. Geaux Tigers! 10-1 10. MICHIGAN--A tough schedule could kill them early (Colorado and Notre Dame), but a new offensive coordinator could be the best thing to happen to the Wolverines since Tyrone Wheatly. 9-2 Surprise teams by each conference followed by prejected recorded: ACC: None other than North Carolina. The Heels could be in position for a National Championship by bowl time. 11-0 BIG EAST: Pittsburgh. The Panthers could capitalize on a real weak yeat in the Big East. 6-5 BIG TEN: Michigan St. State will beat Notre Dame and head to a top three finsh in the Big Ten. 9-2 BIG TWELVE: Oklahoma. Blake will finally get the Sooners rolling. 7-5 CONF. USA: Cincinnati. Will have a conf. title en route to a Liberty Bowl visit. 8-3 PAC-10: Stanford. Will give UNC and Notre Dame all they are worth. 9-2 SEC: Ole Miss. Watch for an upset vs 'Bama. For the Tide this game is inbetween Tennessee and LSU. WAC: Rice. Will beat Northwestern and win Mountain Division of the WAC.
