Teams which do not make the Top 20 in any given year get Zero points for that year. Add each Team's total points for each decade and divide by ten (10 years in a decade!) to determine the average for that decade. The above table rewards consistency over the long haul, a bit like a long-term growth fund in the stock market - the investor who placed his $1 on the Michigan program in 1940 would have gotten the best return on his dollar by 1999!
