From drothman1@juno.com Mon Apr 1 23:32:59 2002 Subject: Final 2002 College Basketball Standings These rankings have as their basis for inclusion all schools with a men's basketball program in NCAA divisions I, II, and III; the Canadian Interuniversity Sport league (CIS), the two divisions of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the two divisions of the National Christian College Athletic Associa- tion (NCCAA), as well as both divisions of the United States Col- legiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Club teams, junior varsity teams, or teams from two-year or community colleges are excluded. The data are collected by Peter Wolfe, and he wishes to thank the following for making scores available: Ken Pomeroy, Pat Coleman, and Sports Information staff at the University of Missouri-Rolla. This data is complete for Division I and the CIS; fairly complete for Division II and even more so in Division III. Lower division data is more difficult to acquire; Wolfe estimates he has roughly 3/4 of all games played. Wolfe translated FACT's ranking algorithm into Visual Basic, then calculated these rankings on his computer. Wolfe takes responsi- bility for any errors, and would be very grateful if these errors are brought to his attention (prwolfe@ucla.edu). Many colleges belong to more than a single organization, and that one listed under "division" represents the "highest" division the college belongs to.
