ECE 533 Project Handwritten Signature Verification Ashish Dhawan Aditi R Ganesan Abstract: Handwritten signature of an individual is a biometric attribute. Among the various biometric attributes, which are used for security purposes, handwritten signature is the most commonly used by general public. Signature verification is a difficult pattern recognition problem as the signature of an individual is not unique. In this project we propose to determine the authenticity of an individual by comparing an input signature with a reference set. Various spatial and timing characteristics have to be taken into account to authenticate a signature. Similarity is computed using string matching and the similarity value is compared to a threshold.
