TITLE: Digital Filter Design Space Exploration Tools GROUP MEMBERS: Eric Hill and Lixin Su ABSTRACT: Currently there is a lack of automated tools for digital filter design. The focus of this project is to create a tool which enables a designer to rapidly explore the digital filter design space. This tool allows the designer to optimize various design parameters in order to meet specific hardware cost and clock frequency constraints. Starting with a design specification consisting of filter coefficients and required sample period, this tool automatically synthesizes a dependence graph (DG), and allows the user to apply unfolding and cutset retiming transformations in order to explore design tradeoffs. In order to create a more user friendly tool, we also plan to utilize existing graph drawing programs to allow visualization of possible filter designs.
