Reviews

“The Wickershams are a group of incredibly talented musicians, with a wickedly upbeat, Alt country sound you would expect out of an octet. They truly personify what they are: Americana.”
- Brett Lemke, Maximum Ink Magazine, Madison, WI

The Wickershams are proof you don't have to go to Nashville or Austin to hear the best in Americana music being played today. Inspired songwriting, superb musicians and sultry vocals by lead singer Tracy Koeller make the band an as yet undiscovered treasure.

Seductive Green Grass
With a hook reminiscent of 1950s Cash and 1960s Dylan and a new-millenium vocal that is equal parts seduction and insistence, this hyped-up-and-brooding track is a wonderful delight. It is one of those rare songs that look back and forward at the same time. Although the lyrics are a little heavy, they are well-written and conceptualized. The band is a tight unit and kudos to the production! folks for giving each instrument its space yet achieving a collusion of sound. A well-deserving track (and band) to be noticed.

No Doubt meets The Dixie Chicks!
The vocals in this song definitely have a "No Doubt" feel, but the music leans more towards "The Dixie Chicks." The hook of the song easily gets stuck in the listener's head with its repetitious "I think I'll sing my songs to somebody else." I think fans of Pop Radio would enjoy this song.

Punk Country
I love this hybrid mix of genres, these strong modern women reclaim country and plant a punk flag proudly on it's Dolly Parton twin peaks. The playing is tight and impressive, catchy and inventive, theatrical, coy, flirtatious, tongue-in-cheek and admirable. This is undoubtedly infectious music and it's sure to horsewhip even the most jaded audience into a tobaccy-chewin' thigh-slappin linedance-prancin' frenzy. Yee-haaawww!
