Autonomous Support Platform II (ASPII)

Update: The second meeting will be on Wednesday, October 13th at 6pm. We will meet on the 4th Floor of Wendt Library. If you cannot make it, please let Brad know by emailing him at: bjgrzesiak {AT} wisc {DOT} edu We might also meet Thursday at the same time, same place if we need to.

Update: The first meeting of the 2004-2005 team will be on Wednesday, October 6th at 6pm. We will initially meet in the Engineering Hall Lobby and find a classroom from there. I (Brad) will try to be there, on and off, by 5pm so that anyone who cannot make the 6pm meeting time can meet with me individually. The meeting should be done by 7pm.

Old info: This website is dedicated to following the progress of the UW-Madison/NASA Autonomous Support Platform II (ASP II) project through the 2003 - 2004 school year. The ASP II project is an accepted entry into the 2004 NASA Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program (RGSFOP). The ASP II itself is the third generation of freeflying robots from this UW-Madison Zero-G team.  The robot has changed in shape from the previous two experiments, which were the size and shaped of a basketball. The ASPII is T-shaped to increase surface area, on which tools may be mounted, and controllability. All three of the robots use a set of ducted fans to create a pressure buildup in the interior, and a set of irises (similar to the aperature on a camera lens) to release the air and propel the robot through a pressurized, zero-gravity environment. The team is composed of six undergraduates attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
