Employment:

CAE Hardware is not currently hiring, but resumes are always accepted. Please deliver resumes electronically to tmg@cae.wisc.edu or in person to Troy Grams in room #282 of 1410 Engineering Drive, Madison, WI 53706. We are interested mainly in incomming, freshman, or sophmore students in Engineering or Computer Science.

Who
An elite team of individuals, not unlike the Navy Seals. The CAE Hardware staff consists of anywhere between 3 to 4 student hourlys and one permanant staff manager.

What
CAE Hardware troubleshoots PC hardware failures for CAE lab machines, and network problems for the entire College of Engineering. We also man-handle most of the heavy objects in CAE labs so the tech weenies in other groups don't have to. Thus we earn the name "Grunts".

Where
Our main office is located in room 281 of the Computer-Aided Engineering building (1410 Engineering Drive).

When
The office is usually staffed between 9AM and 5PM on weekdays. However, our hours are quite flexible and it is not uncommon for someone to be here until 9PM on certain days (especially during "crunch time" just before the end of every semester.)

Why
Because lab machines break and network problems happen. We are here to respond to these emergencies when they occur and fix the problem as soon as possible.

How
Sledgehammers and hammer-drills are our prefered tools for solving any problem - we reach for these babies first. Should that fail, we have an extensive grab-bag of tools at our disposal including network analyizers, multimeters, and a plethora of mismatched hand tools.
