Who Am I?

Currently: a PHD candidate in Mech. Eng. Dept., at the UW-Madison.
Later on: TBA !!!!!!!!!!

My area of interest is computational mechanics, more specifically FEA and its application in design automation.

Thin structures (beams, plates, shells etc) are extensively used in current designs. Unfortunately in these scenarios the classic FEA entails a special treatment known as model reduction. In this process, the 3D CAD model is first geometrically reduced to a so-called mid-surface, and then FEA is performed on the mid-surface. Computing mid-surface and reducing computational domain, however, is a procedure which needs excessive human input, thereby breaking down design automation particularly in the context of shape optimization. My goal is to develop a new reduction scheme which is automatable within 3D CAD environment for linear and nonlinear problems. I am doing research in Prof. Suresh's group.
