About Me

My name is Lin Xie, and I was born in August 1981 in Anhui Province. I obtained the B.S. and M.S. degree both in Electrical Engineering in Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in June 2003 and March 2006, respectively. I am now pursuing my M.S. degree in Operations Research and Decision Science and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering under the supervisions of Dr. Vicki Bier and Dr. Azadeh Davoodi, at University of Wisconsin at Madison, respectively.

My current research interest lies in variability driven electronic design automation in VLSI circuits. Specifically, I am interested in statistical timing analysis and optimization, test for variability, robust optimization for VLSI systems, post-silicon timing failure diagnosis and repair, and parallel optimization for VLSI systems. Moreover, I am also interested in risk analysis and statistical learning techniques.

Research Interests

My research interests fall in:

  • Variability driven electronic design automation in VLSI circuit design
  • PHY, MAC, and Networking layer design for wireless relay networks
  • Low power VLSI circuit design, especially in the bus encoding methods
  • High-level synthesis for low power; Scheduling/allocation for power/area/timing
  • Coding techniques in video communication, especially in H.264

The publications can be found here.
